New Programs In Session!
Fall is a season for new programs, and registrations are now open (as of 8.28.12) for Baby TALK in Oak Forest, La Semilla in Little Village, and SAY Yes! in Humboldt Park.
On Baby TALK in Oak Forest: "We are currently registering for our BIRTH TO THREE PLAYGROUPS for the 12 week fall session. Open enrollment until all classes are filled. We meet weekly for one hour at New Life Community Church in Oak Forest, beginning 9/10/12. Classes
meet on Mondays at 5:30pm, Tuesdays at 9:00am, 10:30am and 5:30pm, and Wednesdays at 9:00 and 10:30am. Tuition is $88.00 for 12 weeks. Contact Debbie Jackson at

On La Semilla in Little Village: "La Semilla begins Tuesday, September 11 and operates on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays 3-5 pm. The La Semilla program operates according to the Track E schedule, and offers bilingual homework help, nutritious snack, Bible instruction, and all kinds of fun for kids in grades 1-8."
On Bethel Family Programs in Humboldt Park: "SAY Yes! after school programs are now registering the magnificent kids of the west Humboldt Park community for love, laughter, and learning after school. Programs operate Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30-6 pm and offer homework help, nutritious snack, Bible instruction, gym time, and computer access, all under the care of loving teachers and volunteers. All kids grades K-8, register now! [Middle school programs offer different choices and operate on a drop-in schedule to accomodate the unique needs of adolescents.]"

Seeking SuperStars!
New Life Centers - Humboldt Park is seeking SuperStar Volunteers! On October/November Wednesdays from 5-6 pm, these SuperStar Volunteers would lead a Superstar class of 5-10 kids or adolescents in an activity of your choice--something our kids don't get in school or at home. Specially seeking dancers, musicians, thespians, gymnasts, artists, chefs, and boxers, but the sky's the limit! Want to be a SuperStar? Please contact elizabethg@nlcenters.org.
Classes begin the first Wednesday of October and run through the last Wednesday of November, with no classes Oct 31 or Nov 21. Classes will perform with their SuperStar teachers at our Family Christmas Extravaganza on Saturday, December 1 [photo on left].

Urban Life Skills Online and All Over
Urban Life Skills, New Life's gang intervention program in Little Village, has been in a magnificent season of new growth. Serving youth on probation, ULS is now expanding its impact through partnership with important Chicago and national organizations. Requests for training in ULS' method of community involvement in gang intervention have been requested nationwide, with director Matt DeMateo traveling as far away as California to provide such training.

New to Little Village: BLING [EXPANDED]
In order to serve more youth and BLING out more of the world, Little Village has joined the youth jewelry-making business. Now, at-risk youth in both Humboldt Park and Little Village learn leadership and job skills through jewelry-making with their mentors and leaders.
This September, BLING will travel to the Christian Community Development Association, as well as many other sales.
